The radiator on my 190e has developed a leak in the plastic where the hose connects to. I know that it’s just a matter of time before it breaks off entirely. Some people have had success repairing the plastic tank instead of replacing it. I want to know if anyone who has done this successfully could recommend a shop in the NY/NJ/CT area. Short of that, I guess I’ll have to buy a new one. Any idea how much they cost?

I don't think these plastic tank can be repair, I once has a Mazda 929, the tank repair only last a few day.
I replaced my 91-300's radiator with a after market for less than $200.00, the OEM is about $300.00 jack |

Thanks.
I just priced a local MB place and an aftermarket radiator for my car is $194.00 - not too bad. I wonder if there is any difference between the OEM and aftermarket besides price. I'd like to keep my 190e for about 3 more years or another 100k miles. |

If you plan to keep the car that long, replace the radiator. That way you'll have years of driving without worrying if the crack in the plastic is going to let loose completely with a REALLY BIG leak.

I saw that my radiator was replaced on my 300D 2.5 by the previous owner, at the MBZ dealer for a cost of $576.19. How do I know if the new radiator has the metal sleeve that prevents them from breaking off?

A suggestion? What are you waiting for? If that neck fails and you lose your coolant in a gusher, that overheating will destroy (warp) your engine's head -- that will be really big bucks. You're playing Russian Roulette with your engine.
Hope I saved you in time. |

CJ - look inside the sleeve. Ring of metal in there. I've seen aftermarket that are all-metal. Go for the replacement - repairs don't last and after time radiators get full of junk deposits that limit their usefulness anyway. Your car will thank you.
