who has a good sugguestion for an inexpensive way to test components ( like a blower motor,) once it's been removed from t home.

Will a 12V DC dry cell battery work? I've tested some relays using a 9 volt and two wires and it was enough to open and close the relay. Getting into some bigger parts I'm not sure what to do...
