The left (driver) side of my hood is not flush with the fender

The left (driver) side of my hood is not flush with the fender.

It’s raised about 3/8 inch above the fender. I loosened the bolts on both hinges – left and right -- and the hood was moveable up and down, but the left side is still riding high. Any suggestions?

Never painted, all OEM. This occurred recently. It was not like that before. I think a bolt is loose in there, or something is causing the left hinge to be higher than it should.

I can't quite put it into words, but the feeling is like a pebble under a brick. Like one brick lies flat and flush wit the others, whereas another feels like it has pebble or something under it that is rasing it up above the others.

When you mention bolts and adjustment, which are you referring to?

Where each hinge ass'y meets the hood there are 3 on each side, which offer "limited" adjustment.

At the other end of the hinge ass'y there are bolts on the inner fender that offer more adjustment. Maybe something there is loose. The bad news is that you have to remove the fender to access them.

The three on the hinge assembly are the ones I refer too. I am certain that the ones you refer to are at fault. I guess I hit one bump too many and that loosened something in there.

So there is absoltely no way to see or access them from the engine bay?

Any updates Eric? Did you manage to fix the gap yet?

Not yet. After learning I would need to remove the fender, I stopped trying. Is there any way to access these lower bolts from under the hood?

I am revisiting this problem after my mechanic told me to have a body shop take a look. He also asked the same question that lino did -- "Was it ever painted?"

How would painting be relevant? Could a paint/body shop have removed and reinstalled the hood incorrectly? (FYI: It was not painted or ever worked on before.)

Could the previous owner have had work done and an improper hood/hinge was installed?

Instead of removing the fender, could the fender liner be removed? That ould be something I could probably tackle.
