idle up solenoid wiring?

how do i install the wiring of a idle up solenoid. do i just get it from the AC compressor wire so that everytime i use the aircon and when compressor is running it will activate the solenoid and increase my idling? how about relays do i have to get one just for the solenoid. my AC compressor have a relay.

I imagine adding a solenoid to that linkage might be tricky. Does the distributor have vacuum advance of retard? Many of the early cars had a retard that was cancelled when the AC went on.

Why not try a vacuum dashpot? If you have Zenith's, there might even be a mount for one. I have one from a parts carb that you can have.

I think those old 200's has a pair of single barrel solexes, with linkage not to suited to solenoids.

hi i have a dashpot got from a zenith carb and got a dashpot bracket from a existing 200 gas twin carb solex. everything is in place and working when i tried it directly to the battery. idle went up when i turn on the vacuum valve. now my question is how to i wire it. do i connect it from the AC compressor so everytime the AC compressor is running it will turn on the vaccum valve at the same time.

I am confused.

The theory of the dashpot is that you connect it to mainifold vacuum source. The vacuum holds the actuator away from the throttle lever. When you turn the AC on, engine RPM's drop and vacuum drops, and the actuator pushes on the throttle lever, increasing the RPM's a bit.

So I am not sure what you are talking about with electrical current.

hi im talking about the solenoid valve or idle up switch or vacuum switch . the dashpot is connected to this valve which regulate the flow of the vacuum coming from the manifold. So whenever the AC is turned on the valve will at the same time stop the flow of vacuum to the dashpot which allows it to push the throttle. It can also work without the valve but much better if u install one. Anyway i tapped it to the AC compressor and works well. thanks
