I would like to check to see if the idle fuel mixture is set correctly.

What kind of tools will you be using? There are a number of ways. The easiest is by monitoring the duty-cycle at pin#3 of the diagnostic socket. It will take at least a DVOM with frequency/duty-cycle functions.

I remember on my 190E you would take a voltage at one of the pins at the diagnostic socket with the o2 sensor unplugged. Then you would plug it back in and adjust the allen screw in the center of the air cleaner until it was fluctuateing on both sides of the voltage. Within +/- 0.8 volts. Is this the same?

Look at the other post about lambda adjusting he has the set-up correct. You should be using the duty-cycle funtion on a DVOM.
