Suspension

Want to replace the Support Joint located on the chassis and connected to the support tube. What is the terminology being used for this part? I have searched everywhere and every site has a different name for it. I want to order the correct part. Pls help
By the way its a 126 chassis

Brake strut support mount. Or the strut rod mounts. Most will know what you are talking about.

Any hints on this job? It looks pretty straight forward, just remove the support joint mount from the chassis, (2 bolts), turn out the supporting joint from the tube. Then press out the supporting joint from the chassis mount, press the new one in, replace, torque everything and check alignment? Did I miss anything, or is there more to it?

Have performed the job several times, it is pretty simple however if dirt and grime have gotten into the Support Joint it takes a lot of leverage to get it out. Also this is the point of caster alignment for the 126 chassis, so you have to make sure that you get wheel alignment performed after the work is completed.

Benzmac, Thanks but there is no strut that the support joint is connected to. The support tube connects to the lower control arm.

Sounds like the thrust rod is being described. Comes from the fire wall/foot well, and goes to lower control arm? Bushing mounted on the wall?
How about more description...just to be safe.

Larry, you got it! the joint that comes from the firewall and the rod is attached to it.
