Darko:
Congratulations! I still haven't done mine. So how is the car driving now? What is the mileage on your car? Yal: Can the B2 piston be replaced on a W124 without removing the transmission? I've read that it can, but it is tight.

Lino - I also heard you can but it may be something that can be done by someone who really knows their way around these trannies. I think even a good mechanic who is unfamiliar may drop the tranny to do the piston.

I don't have the car back yet. I should have it Monday. As for mileage, the car's at 198,000K. I'll let you know how she's running when I get her back.

Well, I picked up the car this morning, and she runs like a dream. The B2 piston had blown up, but the tranny guy said the rest of the tranny was in great shape. The old fluid looked like it was brand new. End cost was 1300.00 CDN. That included the tow from the dealer to the indie. 560.00 (parts & labour) to change the piston, and the rest was for new fluid, filter, new driveshaft coupling, and labour to pull and reinstall the tranny, and taxes.
