In my '87 560SEL the rear climate control vent (above the ashtray, below the back of the arm rest) blows cold air no matter what settig the climate control is on. This isn't a huge problem, since I usually drive in the front seat, but it is a bit annoying. All other vents (dash, under dash, floor) seem to work fine, just this one with the problem. Any ideas on where I could start on this? Thanks

Justin,
I believe what you're describing is normal behavior for the ACC. I looked at a 560 SEL myself last week and am thinking about buying it. I noticed it did the same thing you've described, so I looked it up in the owner's manual and lo and behold it says that the rear AC vent only puts out cold air. I guess you just have to close it down for the winter. |

Justin,
The 1992 300SE I used to own did exactly the same thing and I also questioned the situation. Same results, only cold air which is OK in summer but sucks in winter for rear seat passengers. Tobias MB 4 MBs |
