Rear Window Problem
The rear window on the drivers side of my car will not close .
I have a 1990 300e sedan and I would like to know how to access the inner working of the door. I would like to see for myself why the window wont close when I PUSH the button. It will go down but not up. THANK YOU, PAUL |

front door pannel
Quote:
Unscrew the lock switch (button at top of the door). Unscrew the trim around the door lock mechanism (where it locks to car body). Force out the trim around the inside lock acuator. (Which you pull to open the door.) There is a rod (coming from the left side of the drivers side doors) that fits down into a plastic clip on the lock acuator, lift the rod up to disconnect it. Unscrew bolt at the top of the inside door handle into the door. Carefully... lift the door liner upward (pay attention to rubber trim which clips down at the top of the door liner) there are 10 or so plastic hooks pointed toward the ground that hold the liner to the door frame. (If one or more should break off have a wood-metal-plastic epoxy handy to remount them. Or at least that’s how I do it on my 86' 300E.

Broken wire in the door sleeve, most likely.
Door panel removal is a bit different on the rear door. Pry the black plastic trim around the armrest off, unclip the door latch rod, then push the latch body forward until it comes free (or back, I can never remember until I have it in front of me -- it's obvious, at least!). Remove door latch. Remove the 10mm screw at the top of the armrest, then the trim around the latch itself at the rear edge. Unscrew the lock button, then remove the ashtray and pry out the black plastic "cup" for the ashtray from the top. Complete panel will then lift straigt up and then away from the door. Watch for the wires for the bottom courtesy light, they keep you from moving the panel very far until unhooked. DO NOT pry the panel away from the door, you will break the prongs that hold it on and end up with a new door panel, not cheap! Peter

Check Switch First
Have you checked the switch???Sometimes the switch will not work as well in one direction as the other direction. But, I would first make sure that power is available...Jim
