OK.
Possibly a dumb question, but what the heck is supposed to happen when the parking guides are deployed on a 92 s-class?
The rods go up but I can get as close as I want and nothing happens.

Not a dumb question.......the rods only rise up to indicate the rear of the vehicle to the "vertically challeged" of us while backing up......no more......no audible or visible warning. The "Parktronic" system provides both a visual and audible warning when approaching most objects.....neat system.
