My 190e 2.6 has serious difficulty starting after sitting say overnight... it'll crank but in order to start & run you must pat the foot feed(accelerator) several time. then when it does start it tends to stumble for the first few minutes. after that it runs fine, no miss, no skip, no stumble... runs like it should..
![]() does anyone have any thoughts or answers to my delima any help would be greatly appreciated Jerry |

searched threads for coolant temp sensor
inspected and replaced it... still to no avail.... any other thoughts or ideas called a MB shop in ATL and they said it could be the cold start injector... does that sound right to anyone?? thanks Jerry |

Have you cleaned you cold start injector, or even tested it? That is the most likely problem if the Water Temp Sensor did not fix it.

It could also be time to clean your injectors.
The easiest way is to use the "double-dose" of Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner in less than a full tank of fuel. After warmed up try and drive the car hard and into higher RPMs repeatedly. Haasman

ok... so if it bleeds down it's more than likely the ck valve in the pump.
also... a fuel inj. servicing ? - if i do the fuel inj service will that clean the cold start inj., too? thanks jerry ps since all this... i've also found that i've got a bad l/rear wheel bearing! any thought to DIY for a wheel bearing... is it simple?? ![]() |

Jerry,
I wouldn't spend alot of time worrying about fuel injectors to solve your problem. Also what makes you think you have a defective wheel bearing? Peter

well... if i grab the left rear tire (when off the ground) it has alot of play in it. all lug nuts are tight and all the bushings appear to be solid.
any thoughts as to why i may be chasing the wrong problem with the fuel injct.? also could it be possible (here comes the stupid ?) could i have gotten a faulty part (coolant temp sensor) to begin with....... thanks jerry |

I am encountering very similar systems to what you have indicated on your 190E. My 1989 300E have very low mileage on it and was not driven a great deal. My mechanic conducted a fuel system pressure test and found that there was a leak in the system. He was able to isolate it to the front of the car versus the rear where the check valve would be (additionally, he indicated that the defective check valve would account for a more rapid loss of pressure in the fuel system). He then proceeded to remove one of the injector and noticed that the spray pattern was irregular. At this point, he suggested cleaning the engine with a special machine which ties into the fuel system. The intention is to clean out the residual build up in the engine and the injectors which may be preventing them from closing properly (which would account for the pressure leakage in the system). This was done several days ago and I have noticed some difffernce, but the car is still difficult to start.
The next step is to replace the injectors.... Will let you know how that goes. |
