Can I replace radiator support bar on 300e?

My 300e front end was bashed in a fender bender. Since the oem headlights were damaged, I see this as an opportunity to add euro headlights & maybe a radiator with a reinforced neck. My problem is that the upper radiator support bar is bent and, unless it can be straighened by a body shop, it needs to be replaced. The shop said it was welded in. Is this correct, or can it be removed some other way, like detaching the side fenders? Also, is there an aftermarket source for this part? Thanks.

Did you ever find the answer to your question? I had a fender bender, not that bad. I have a bent upper radiator support bar that I would like to replace. Let me know.

Thanks.

It can easily be straightened, or you can replace the entire support bar with thinner aftermarket sheet metal. The piece can be ordered by any body shop.

Or do like I did and cut a straight one out of a donar car and weld it in. I've got a thread with pictures floating around here somewhere.

Thumbs up

If you are close to Delaware you can come and cut off all you need from an 88 300TE being parted or a soon to be parted 95 E320. Cost is free.
