Sorry I haven't stayed in touch this week. I have bronchial pneumonia and have been in bed. If not better tomorrow I have to go into the hospital.
I do appreciate all of your replies and will let you know how the car does when I get better. Hopefully I won't be down too long. I will be in touch as soon as I get better. Please keep me in your prayers.

Did your problems start at the smoke incident? If so, step #1 is absolutely to pinpoint what smoked, and then why. Finding that source is usually easier later than sooner - the smell will eventually dissipate everywhere except the source, where it can linger for months or years. FIND that source, then use detective work to find the cause and fix the problem.
