I've been having problems opening the EPC lately. Have anyone had this problem also with Windows XP? I am not sure if the problem is related to all this security updates or the spies you get through the internet. Is it possible to use the EPC with Windows 98? What are the steps for installation and running with Windows 98? Thank you.

epc
darell, what version of epc are you using?
here are the instructions i use for installing older versions of epc Installing Mercedes Benz Electronic Parts Catalog Please read all these instructions prior to install! Place the cdrom marked number one cd into the cdrom drive. Open the cdrom by double clicking the cdrom icon in the control panel. Go to the folder marked globals and open it. Go to the bin folder and open it, next find the file named J2RE1_3_0_WIN_I double click it and allow it to install, It will automatically complete and close. Once done you will need to use the back button and return to the cdrom root directory where you started, look for the blue setup icon it is blue and says EPAR. The following special instruction is for windows xp users only: Right click the setup icon scroll down the list to properties and open it, once it is open go to the compatibility tab, once it opens go to compatibility mode and select windows 2000 and select apply, you will now need to double click the blue setup icon and setup will start. Select your desired language and click next, it will ask if you want to restore, select no. The next window will install the Bell and Howell product licenser. (Do not open or modify the installed program, it will put it in the start menu) Next to appear will be the select data groups window, select each box to put it a check mark or simply hit the select all button then select next and next again, setup will now install all needed files, after a time it will ask for the next cdrom #2, insert it and continue a window will open please ignore it setup will continue with it open, do not make the mistake and exit if you do it will not install. After it completes it will ask if you want to restart remove the cdrom from the drive and select yes. Allow computer to completely reboot, an icon will be placed on the desktop for the installed program |

Thank you Ray. I think my version is newer. In the read me text it says August 2002
Release 10.6.21 Update version: 061 08/2002 I was using it very nice 5 days ago, when I received a pop-up window about a Spy software and by mistake clicked ok and the computer went crazy. I try to open the EPC in my office computer (Windows 2000) and I couldn't. That is why I was thinking that maybe the Windows updates or the antivirus software is blocking the EPC. Do you have instructions for this version? Is this the one that you are referring to? I cannot even uninstalled it. Simply it doesn't respond. Thank you again. Darrel 350 SD-1991 102K Mi |

Guys
I am in the UK. Am I able to avail myself of the EPC facility. If so, how do I do it ? Do I need the CD and that's it ? Or do I need to set up a subscription online. Your feedback would be appreciated. Many thanks. Regards David E320 Coupe (W124) 1995 |
