Question 1994 Honda accord ignition switch damage (ATTEMPTED THEFT)

I just spoke with my wife, who has a friend that has a 1994 Honda accord. The car was broken into last night.
The ignition switch was damaged by (supposedly) a screwdriver, in an ATTEMPT to either pop the ignition or to jimmy the switch on through force.
I said that I would look at the car and see what I could do.
IF NECESSARY, the car could have the damaged ignition removed (by ME), and started with a screwdriver temporarily.......until either replacing the ignition with NEW or from a BONEYARD.
My question...........we do KNOW that on a MERCEDES, the ignition can be turned (WITH) the key inserted and turned to first position and removed with a tool (strong wire).
Cab ANYONE out there explain to me how to remove the existing damaged cylinder/ tumbler. I think that the key will NOT fit into the damaged ignition.
However, my wife's friend is CLUELESS as to anything mechanical.
SO...........IF I am able to fit the correct key into the switch (via coersion) and maybe able to turn the key.......HOME FREE!
PROBABLY, the SAVAGES have caused too much damage for this...........DO I need to use some sort of a slide hammer and or a drill.
IF I successfully remove the damaged tumbler assembly, should I then be able to use a screwdriver to turn the ignition. Then the car could be driven to my friend's shop. I am thinking of the steering lock assembly. D-mn japaneese cars..............Oh well, I will attempt a favor.
Thanks for any and all recomendations!
Spo out
I AM NOT A CAR THEIF!!!

I suggest you go to a Honda dealer... buy the ignition insert and hope they give instalation instructions. That should also tell you how to remove the one currently in the car.
