Rough Idle & Multiple Problems With My 98 C280

Hello There - I Am The Proud Owner Of A 98 C280 & Going By My Research This Car Is A Bit Of A Problem To Its Owners . So Far I Have Changed Plugs,MAS,Timing Sensor,recharged Ac, Replaced Breakes & Rotors,changeD Vibration Damper . My Current Problems Are #1 Rough Idle - Otherwise Car Runs Fine (have Read Others Advice On This Problem Is To Replace The Boots On The Coil - Where Do You Get These ?- Having A Hard Time Finding Them ) #2 Oil Sensor Is A Little Weird 1st It Says I Am Low On Oil Then It Flashes & "dings" And Says I Have To Much Oil !(where Is It & How Do You Change It Out?) # 3 Now My Low Fuel Lite Flashes With Gas In The Car ? #4 And Of Course The Check Engine Light Came On Recently & Stays On Now - I Have Checked All The Fuses I Could Find & I aM Going To Try & Check Out The Egr Valve Today . Other Than This The Car Is Ok - Any Suggestions (i Have Already Thought About Dynamite Or Turning It In To A Submarine My I Think My Wife May Get A Little Excited ???thanks Al

Pull the fault codes and report back what they are for the check engine light. As far as the fuel light problem is concerned, the most common culprit is the fuel level sender.

The coil "boots" are a part of the ignition wire set. When you lift the coils up they will just plug in after removing the old ones. When reassembling, be sure to wire brush the threaded contact for the coil which fits into one of the corners of the coil. Hit it with contact cleaner also. The rest is straight forward. I had to replace the plastic vacuum line which runs alongside the wires as mine was brittle from the heat over a period of time. (1997 C280 - 76,000 miles). The dealer will have the replacement line. Spread a little dielectric grease around the lip of the plug boots to make for easier removal next time.
