Yes, but I thought that you said that the fan is shot. There are two switches on the filter drier. One is the low pressure switch that cuts out the compressor clutch when refrigerant is low, the other operates the aux. fan.

You should not need the aux fan for your climb. It is only there to bring down the high side pressure when driving in traffic on a hot day.
