Jump starting my '87 190e 16v

I left the interior dome light on last night and ran the battery down. I have seen a lot of posts in the past about blowing the voltage regulator fuse. Can someone tell me exactly what I need to do to jump start the car properly? When do I replace the fuse before or after I jump start?
