Instructions needed - removal of gas float
Greetings All,
I need instructions on how to remove the gas tank float on my 1988 300e. I've got the bouncy gas guage syndrome and I've read how that it can be caused by a dirty float. But I can't seem to find instructions on how to do it. Thanks in advance. bluebenz

The fuel sender on the W124 is a long tube that is removed by first unpluging the electrical plug, then using a wrench to unscrew it from the tank. All of this is done from within the trunk, behind the carpet wall.

I just did this on my '88 300CE. It was a snap. I used a pipe wrench to loosen the large nut. After unpluging the sending unit it then just lifts out. I got the part from ********e in AZ (***************). Part was only $40. Free shipping over $50, so I got a dist car and rotor as well. Good luck.
