Belt tensioner
Hello! I have a 92 300e 4matic. I need to change the belt tensioner, dampener, and belt. I have the fan and belt off, but am not sure where to start now. Do I need to remove the water pump, or just the pulley? If it makes a difference I am also replacing the upper and lower radiator hoses while I am in there. From viewing many other threads on this subject and on this site, I am a bit confused.
Any suggestion on places to purchase the parts online? I was at my dealer today, and the total for belt, tensioner, tensi0oner adjuster, dampener was $462... I assume other good parts can be purchased for less elsewhere? Any help is much appreciated. Any recommended books on the changing procedure and anyone willing to share some info they have, again I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time... Ken |

For competitive prices on parts you might try "FASTLANE" in this forum and "***************" in Arizona.

Do a search on replacing the M103 tensioner for details. Here's some links -
Serpentine Belt What's procedure to tighten W124 Belt? You don't have to touch the water pump to replace the belt, tensioner or hoses unless you're replacing that stub of hose between the thermostat housing and the head. Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |
