One more question for you experts out there.

I have noticed that my heater works great when it is in the max position but not so great anywhere other than the max position. In addition, when the heater is on max and the blower is on max the heat is cut down tremendously. Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on? What I may try to fix this without turning it over to a dealer.

My light in the shifter box isn't working either. Is there and easy way to fix this? None of the fuses seem to be blown.

Thanks for all your help!

The heater valve is probably the problem with the heat. MB calls it a "mono valve". If this is the problem it's an easy repair. Under the hood at right rear. Repair kit # 000-835-06-44 sells for $35.

Do you suggest going ahead and using the mono valve kit on this car? Or do you need further symptons of what is happening with the heater.
Thanks,
