What are the signs that the fuel injectors need to be replaced on the M119 engine??? It seems that with all of the heat generated that the rubber O-rings around the injectors would become britte, shrink and spew gasoline. I know the injectors are expensive ($200+ each) but would like to know what to look for when they're about to fail.

Hot start issues are usually a sign that one or more injector(s) is leaking into the cylinder(s)..Cold start issues usually mean that the injectors may not be opening all the way..Poor fuel mileage is also an indicator. I would try having the fuel sytem cleaned along with the injectors, before shelling out that kind of loot for injectors/labor...

You can get them cleaned, refurbished and tested at cruzinperformance.com for $12 each. He does a great job.

Why do you want to replace them anyway?????
Injectors are not something to replace just for the heck of it. If you're really bored you can pull the fuel rail apply pressure, if any leak -replace them. Or check the spray pattern, if they don't spray well -replace them. You don't just look down and say, "hey them thare injectors luk' old, lets replace em' awl." DERF. Have them cleaned if you want, replace the seals if you want, but don't replace them just becasue. |

I agree - those pricey injectors don't seem to fail - fortunately. I had mine done because I wanted to make sure they were clean and to have them tested. He will test them on the way in and again on the way out - and give you the test results. He basically replaced everything that is subject to wear - seals, pintle caps, I think they're called. If you've got one or more that are bad he will tell you.

I will probably send them out to Cruz for testing.
