Install armrest cover?

Does anybody know how to install a new armrest cover on a w126? I've got it mostly on, but I can't seem to get enough slack to fit the leather into the groove in the back. Any help would be appreciated - my hands hurt.

Thanks

Don't "slide" it on. Take it off, and turn it inside out. Then slowly "roll" it onto the armrest. You'll get plenty of slack this way. Sliding it on is too hard because of the friction.

where did you get armrest cover?

How did you get hold of the armrest cover as I need one for my W124?

Is it available as a part from MB or did you have it made?

Keith

Thanks gmercoleza - I'll go try that.
Keith: I would call Phil and see if he has it available. I got mine from performanceproducts (before I knew of Fastlane) but I don't think they carry them anymore.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks

Why do you need a new cover? If yours is like mine was, with cracked and shattered piping but otherwise in good condition, just remove it, undo the stitching, remove the piping, and sew it back together using the same holes. Then you can reinstall, and it's good as new. Best part is, it's original and matches the rest of the interior in color, sheen, and wear.

The Tex itself was heavily scratched (too many years with a dog). I just tried to roll it on and I'm having the same problem. I seem to have enough material, but after I put the material in the groove it just pops out again - it won't stay put. Any more ideas?

Thanks
Peter

I wraped the arm rest with a clear cleaner/laundry plastic bag. It make it very easy to slide the cover over the arm rest.

Sadly I dont have leather , the interior is beige and the arm rest fabric has 10 years of greasy elbow grime . The rest of the fabric comes up clean but not the arm rest. Open to ideas as to how to reuse it , anyone had success with cleaning?
