I seem to be blind to the location of the oil filter on the 97 C280. Can someone please point out where it is and what special tools are needed to remove it. One other thing... I have read the discussions on changing the transmission fluid in this car. The dealer however, assured me that the fluid is a permanent fill and would not change it at 60,000 miles. Does it make that big of a difference to the life of the transmission and what reason could they have for not wanting to change the fluid if they are getting paid for it?Thanks a lot.

See the above thread on the ML. I would change it at 60k at least. All of the older cars are every 30k. I think that 60k will be fine with the synthetic fluid.

The oil filter is located, as you are standing in front of the vehicle, to the right rear. IT is under the plastic cap.

You will need a specail tool to remove the cap. You can purchase it and all of the parts from us.
