1998 slk230 flasher dead

The turn signals and the emergency flasher on my 1998 slk230 quit working. The lights just stay on. Is it the flasher relay, or could it be something else? If it is the flasher relay, where can I find one (without going to the dealer, who charge an arm and a leg), and is it difficult to replace?
