Is it possible to purchase a HHT or Star diagnostic computer? Where and how much?
Are there any others?

I need one for reading and clearing fault codes. It is very difficult to work on the newer models without it.
I have a friend at the local dealership that helps me out, but I can't keep going to him every time I have a fault code.

Thanks,
Vin

I think they started the new diagnostic system in 1992. They moved the battery to the trunk. In it's place they installed control units and a big round diagnostic harness.
Anyway, I need one that will work on all of the newer models from 92 and up.

MB sells a client version of the Star Diagnosis system for $18,000. HHT's are no longer supported & havent been up-dated for over a 1 1/2 years.

A variety of handheld diagnostic units and software packages capabable of resetting faults codes are available from aftermarket companies. Check with Baum Tools (www.baumtools.com) and Assenmacher Specialty Tools (www.asttool.com) for starters.
