Question about ignition key positions
You know how there are four key positions? There is 0 (remove key), I (turns on accessories, but not power windows), II (idiot lights come on and all accessories, incl. power windows and sunroof--also drive position), and III (cranks engine). Now I know many of us sometimes use the radio with engine off and key position in I position. However, is it bad for the electrical system if key is in the II position with all the dash lights on for a considerable amount of time? My car had some electrical work done (radio) and most of the time key was in the II position, sometimes for 10 to 15 minutes straight. Thanks.

What year and model is your MB? The radios in our 1991 300CE and 1998 E320 work without the key in the ignition ... simply press the power button and they play for 1 hour and automatically turn off.
