If you open the fuse box under the hood..under the relays and fuses sits a strange wire that holds a glass fuse..when we put a 20 amp fuse it it and start the car the fuse breaks took out the fuse and everything seems to work I was wondering if anyone else had a fuse like that..cant find anything on the CD about it..the previous owner may have owned a car phone??

I have opened several fuse boxes and added a lot of (benz original and after market) cables...a "floating" fuse underneath the fuses in the fuse box is definitely after market. Take a look at the other end of the cable (which goes into the fuse box) and disconnect it. When the fuse breaks whilst starting the car it is already shorted and of NO GOOD.

what type of car, what color coded cable?
