info

IMHO larry i think it should be a requirement to have your location and your vehicles listed. it should be required info on your profile. i know about privacy but what would it hurt to list "whatever, VT" or BFE, New Zealand.

we've all seen it... you start answering the question only to get a reply back that they drive on the right and nothing you've said applies.

i've been wanting to suggest this so i'm glad to see the post

Arthur's right...complete waste of time. Benzmac once had a sticky at the front that went unheeded.

Requiring location is a privacy issue. Thieves like to scan these boards.

The best thing to do is disregard any all post(s) that are missing what Larry requested AND to also disregard posts whose titles contain non-sense like" "PLEASE HELP!!!!!" or "Has Anyone Seen This?"

I have considered doing that, but I just think of the guy that is in a real jam and really indeed needs our help. I must admit that I rarely have the time to open up a post with a tell nothing title. I'm on a dial up.

Have a great day,

Larry:

You're a considerate person, but a guy who doesn't have the presence of mind to provide yr/make/model and uses titles like "Please Help" in all probability doesn't know a plug wire from a crescent wrench. He's simply going to have to take the car to a shop.

what would be wrong with requiring user to have their car/cars in their profile. If they had more than one or were talking about a different car than in their profile you'd still be at a loss, but at least you'd have SOME car to refer to

Vehicle info needs to be within the post; not in the profile necessarily. Putting it in the latter would require the viewer to click on their name in order to look up that information.

folks i don't feel or think it pushes the privacy limits to at least note that you are in new zealand, london or the midwest but that's a seperate discussion.

now... i've seen larry go to the trouble of researching a person's profile just to get an idea of what vehicle the guy is talking about. so again i say what is the problem of requiring a vehicle to be some where it will attach itself [profile or wherever] to the post.

i'm not posting much now because most of the talk today is referring to other than my 107 & 126 but if i don't see a model i will just pass it by.

And to expand on that, you can't count on putting it in the signature either, because the sig isn't technically part of the post. It can change, be out of date, not get displayed due to server error, etc.

Yes, and for all we know, he's working on his neighbors car.

Have a great day,
