87 190D 2.5 needed a Rear main seal, I bit the bullet and started today, all was well until.......tried to separate the tranny and the engine and the Torque Converter stuck to the Flex Plate. Yes, I removed the 6 bolts. Now the tranny hasn't enough room to go back enought to clear the tranny input shaft to allow the tranny to fall free. AND I can't get the tranny re-engaged to the T/C. It look as if I gotta pull the engine., unless you guys have any suggestions. There is NO WAY to get anything in between the Flex palte and T/C. ARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

BTw, the tranny was rebuilt about 16K ago by PO's shop. The T/C is painted blue, I am guessing some of this paint has adhered to the Flex plate.......
