96 C280 lower ball joint torque values
Hi,
I am replacing the lower ball joint on 96 C280 and I have differing torque values for that joint from alldata and other sources. I have the new joint and need the correct torque values. Also are new nuts required when the joint is replaced? Thanks

Hi The reason is there are two nuts,59 foot Ibs forjoint to lower control arm and 77 foot Ibs for joint to steering knuckle and yes use new self locking nuts they should come with the joint or they are cheap replacments.joeym

Thanks I am glad I checked with the forum! I did get new nuts just after I posted. Will do the job today.
For W202 Alldata is specifying 140 Nm (104 ft-lbs) for lower ball joint nut on steering knuckle and 100 Nm (74 ft-lbs) for lower ball joint nut on wishbone. The 104 ft-lbs seemed pretty high. The Alldata torque information for the joint replacement procedure appears to be incorrect. The joint torque value given with the Alldata lower control arm replacement proceedure is 105 Nm (77.5 ft-lbs) for both ball joint nuts. Thanks for your help
