Are the dual piston brake caliper's worth rebuilding? Or is the cost of replacement cheap enough not to worry about. I know on American car's it's not worth the time and hassle to rebuild. The cost and availability of rebuilt unit's make it easier and quicker to just replace them. I just wondered if it was the same on MB. I know it depends on the condition of the piston bore as to whether it's rebuildable but before I go through the trouble I would just as soon get some rebuilt unit's. Thank's for any input.

Shoe,
Are they leaking? Modern calipers rarely leak. They have stainless bores and rarely pit. I have rebuilt a several sets of calipers including the dual piston calipers on my Vette. They're typically very easy to rebuild. Unlike drum brake cylinders, the seals are in the bore rather than on the piston, so the situation is quite different regarding pitting, etc. Good luck, |

There not dripping, just damp around the outer piston. If they have stainless bores then a rebuild should work OK. Thank's for the reply Larry! I will do a part's shop request on the rebuild kit's. They should be a lot cheaper than a entire unit.
