w124 grille help

im in the process of replacing the faded grey insert in my grille. the trouble is, i cant get the whole grille assembaly off of the hood. i already took 2 screws out of the far ends of the grille, but i cant find any other screws that seem to connect to the grille assembaly. any help would be appreciated
thanks

two others in between... you have to be somewhat of a contortionist to see them.

When I did this....I just gave the old faded grill four coats of black matte finish paint... looks great.... of course I had to remove the chrome strips... messed one up placing it back in and had to get a 2.50 replacement...

Seems like there are some 10mm (maybe 8mm?) nuts holding that grill, along with the two screws you already found. If I remember right, you reach them with a socket and extension from straight behind the grill at the top.

DR88, there are four similar screws through the lip of the front of the hood that secure the grille in place. Feel along the underside of the hood ... there are recesses at the screw locations. I use a nut driver to remove these four screws.

Correct. And I'm doing this procedure again for the second time in less than a year! First one, the grille was damaged during a hailstorm...the second...an errant rock from a gravel truck!

Maybe I should buy spares while the price is low...
