82 240D RH Mirror Install Question
I just bought a manually operated passenger-side mirror for my 1982 240D.
Can anyone tell me how the plastic "joystick" lever comes off? Does it pull straight out, or are there screws hidden someplace that I must remove first? It's on there pretty tight, and I'm afraid that if I put a lot of force on pulling it off, that something's going to break... I searched the forums and didn't see anything that addressed this. The job looks like a piece of cake, except for getting the joystick knob off. Thanks, - Patrick

As I recall, there is a little plastic wedge shaped piece that looks like it is part of the handle. Pry the wedge out with a small screwdriver and the handle will come off.

there is a
little sliding piece of black plastic. look the black handle over closely and you will find it. slide it back and the handle will slide off the metal lever underneath. very slick!

Thanks
Thanks for the tips - it did the trick and the job is done!
![]() I noticed that the passenger side mirror is the opposite of what I expected. I think it's "concave" instead of "convex". Instead of "objects are closer than they appear", it's "objects appear closer than they actually are". I can adjust my rear view mirror and my new passenger side mirror so I can see the same area, and a car will look much closer in the side mirror. Just takes getting used to. I'm happy, and loving my car. Thanks again for the advice. - Patrick
