Disposing battery

It looks like I need a new battery. it is for a 2000 c280. I was just wondering if there is any tips on replaceing a battery. any way of not disrupting power to radio.. I don't have the code. do I have to call dealership? also it said something about reseting windows and sunroof??

Check your Owner's Manual ... it should include instructions for resetting features after installing a new battery.

You will lose settings despite your best efforts. But fear not.

If you have a recent service invoice from the dealership, it will have the radio codes printed on the header info, used by the service tech to reset the codes when servicing your vehicle. Techs will disconnect the battery as an added precaution when properly servicing your car.

Some vehicles do require addition resynch'ing procedures. My SL required doing so with the softtop operation, and the ML required the BAS/ESP function reset by turning the steering lock-to-lock.

Like previously mentioned, the owner's manual will detail any procedures required...

When I called my dealer to get the radio code ( asked for the service/parts department ), all they needed was the last 6 or 7 digits of my VIN.
