no heat from center vents

i have 89 190e and just replaced the heater core and i can't remember if heat is susposed to come from the center vents or not. the outer vents work. when the a/c is on the cold air comes from all the vents. am i missing something?

heat does not come from the center vents, your system is working normal

that is what i was figuring but was not shure because you can see the heater core from those vents. thanks
