I'm importing a '96 E320 from Germany (to CT). What are the US modification requirements? Any problems to avoid?

Hello Horst, We have just been through a long discussion on importing from a chap in the Netherlands. His was a W124 and probably presents more of a challange than a W210. Use the search site in this forum to review the remarks and a good insight into the importing task. Good luck and welcome. Ed

Horst,
The second mentioned thread (12241) came from me and that is what Ed Richardson was talking about. I want to import a 1993 300CE-24 convertible, but after a lot of internet searching, mailing and support from this forum, I thought it would be better not to import that car at all. It is just not worth the effort. I wanted to modify my car according to the US DOT and EPA regulations myself, but even if I bring in a modified car that is US-material it will still cost me $9000,- The US government seems to live somewhere 50-100 years ago upon the topic of cars. grüsse,
