Car starter for W124 400E (with remote lock?)

Hi. I want to install a remote start unit with the remote locking feature into my 92 400E. I want to know if anyone has done this successfully, particularly the locks part. My local installer said that I cant use remote locks because I have the plunger type. But I think that is a crock because you can just tap into one of the three wires going to any of the lock cylinders, correct?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure...

But I don't think it is easily possible to do what you are attempting.

The locks on your car are pneumatically controlled, not electrically. Locking or unlocking the door by the locking pin lock the immediate door and simply activates the vacuum system to actuate the other locks.

You would most likely have to connect the remote locking receiver to the vacuum pump under the right rear passenger bench.

One more thing, remote locking will NOT arm or disarm the factory alarm on cars of your vintage. The alarm is controlled by microswitches built into the tumblers of the two front doors and the trunk lock. These switches are not electrically operated, they are PHYSICALLY operated when you lock/unlock the door.

remote start/alarm

I installed 2way remote start/alarm with pager. I disconnected OEM alarm and used existing wiring. Here is diagram where to splice: EASY to install keyless entry in W124/W126 It's looks very similar to the one I found somewhere online.
As for remote start I found diagram somewhere online. Ran wires to ignition switch and it work no problem.
Installation is not very complicated since you have all wires from doors, hood, trunk, lights to flash.
Good luck

thanks!

Thanks for all the replys guys! I knew it could be done, i dont trust anyone touching my car but me. I will search around for a unit and then install it. Anyone have the diagram for the remote start wires? I installed one in my old 420SEL years ago, without a manual, and managed to successfully do it. But it sure would be easy to know what wires to tap into.

thanks!
