Hey All

I've been thinking about upgrading the Brakes on my 300E but would like to stay Mercedes(over aftermarket like brembo). It there a retrofit kit or equivalent to use E500 or E55 calipers and rotors? The car's brakes work well, but I'd like to get alittle more out of it because people just drive too damn crazy around here (Florida). Today I've been cut off by crazy 16 year old girls, Pulled out in front of by 2 old people, 1 semi, and a dog. Inadition to the guy pulling a trailer who pulled out across 4 lanes of traffic an stopped. Maybe I'm just having a bad day, but if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate them! Thanks again

Jason,

I know exactly how you feel. I put up a similiar post under the performance paddock and some members suggested going with the 400E brakes. I will be looking into all of this stuff during the next couple of weeks--hopefully this type of stuff could fit my bill. All I can tell you right now is try not to drive agressively. When your not agressive, you tend to use the brakes less. Thats a hard task, especially if your a driver like I am. I just love to jump in the left lane and let her ride.....whew hooo!!!

Retro Brakes Jason?

I imagine I've missed the reason for the modification.
I've always used the brake materials designed for my W124030.
With the OEM pads ans rotors, I have outstanding brakes with the feel that was designed into them.
With ABS, "Stomp, Steer and Stay" technique, my Benz will shut itself down.
Not driving F-1, just plain old USA traffic, I have yet to feel the need to modify my brakes.
I change the front pads at 35,000 miles service and the rotors every other change. The rear pads will last about twice as long as the front.
To each his own!

Jason you could have the best of the best brakes plus a drag shute with a boat anchor and these will not change the driving habits of others.
Defensive driving.
