Cooling Help
We just bought a C280 for my wife. Because of this I had to start and move my 560 to make room.
I had removed the battery and disconnected the washer reservoir lines when I put it away. I installed the battery and started the car,not knowing the reservoir was heated by coolant. After 5 minutes I noticed the leak and connected it. The car ran for a total of about 10 minutes. Now , of course the coolant is low. Can't really feel any pressure in the hoses. How do I refill and bleed the system? And could I have hurt the engine. I did not notice the temp gage, only idiot light {other than me} that was on was low coolant. 50/50 mixture OK? John |

Whether or not damage was done depends on how low the coolant really got. If the head was run completely dry, then damage is possible.
To refill and bleed, fill the overflow tank all the way to the top and run the engine. The system will bleed itself out. Keep on topping off the tank till it is ready to overflow, and when it won't take anymore, set the proper level of coolant.
