Assistance with Line/Hose ID W202 C230 98

RE: 1998 C230
99900 miles

Murphy's Law is all over me today. Getting car ready for trip on Friday...

Pulled plastic housing off front of motor to wipe dripped oil. Gently moved lines in attached photos while doing so. The brown line snapped as it is very brittle - found out the hard way. The white line cracked, too (looks like a vacuum line).

I have no idea what the lines/hoses are or what components are now without their support. I hope someone can identify them for me. Lines are indicated by sloppy blue arrows.

If so, are they DIY? It looks like the brown line would be fairly easy and the white, another story. Would I be able to put a rubber section in the white line? If they are DIY, I will give Phil a call today. If not, can I drive it to the indy?

Thanks,

Chris

Looks like both are supply lines for the airpump switchover valve ( electric solenoid at the front of the engine ).
Get a couple short pieces of vacuumhose, slide them over the plastic lines , ( to connect them again ) you're done.

Code?

Manny,

Thanks for the quick reply. Will I cause the computer to fill up with codes by driving it to the dealer for the hose?

PS - I attached another photo with a better perspective. The arrow points to the line I was calling the white line.

You will probably set a code, when starting the engine from cold.
I'm sure a " friendly " dealer would erase it for you free of charge.
As I said before, all you need is a few inches of vacuumhose, slip it over the ends ( where the plasticline is broken,), thereby re-connecting everything.

Repaired, I think

I used new line to repair the brown hose. I used a ninety degree vacuum elbow to repair the white line. Pic attached.

I hope the use of the ninety degree hose will work. Any input is welcome. I used it to avoid running new hose to the rear of the motor.

Thank you Manny for the quick replies and the information. Thanks Phil for a great site and for sending my goods so quickly.

Chris

You're good to go!
Keep an eye on ALL that plastic tubing in years to come.
