Reset Check Engine Light

I'm from California now living in Cabo San Lucas. I have a 1992 300E great condition, checked out by reputable Mercedes mechanics prior to driving it to Baja.

Upon driving to Cabo and setting up my home. My check engine light came on. I brought it to a mechanic and he could not find any problems. Know one has the fdiagnostic tools down here to check the computer area network / diagnostic module.

I really need to turn the light off ASAP. It freaks out my wife.

I followed your instructions: Below are the results.

3-Hold the button down for 2 seconds, and count the number of flashes by the LED.

I had 10 flashes

4-Hold the button down for 6 seconds, the LED should stay lit for about 1 second (this indicates the code has been cleared).

I held down for 6 seconds, but the LED light was on the whole time it never turned off.
Did I do something wrong ?

I'm so frustrated can you help me. I'm not very knowledgeable about cars and feel like a idiot, So It would much appreciated if your could dummy up your answers.

thanks

After you got the 10 flashes , you hold again for 2-3 sec for the next code , and so on..
Your step # 4 is incorrect.
After all codes have been retrieved , then the 10 will reappear , telling you
the process has been completed. [ the codes come up in numerical sequence]
if you want to clear the codes , you hold the sw for 8 sec after each code appears.. that will cancel/clear THAT previous code .. to clear all codes , you have to do that after each code.
Then turn key off 10 secs , on 30 sec and start car.. CE will then go out

Check Engine Light question from a idiot

1.After you got the 10 flashes ,

2.you hold again for 2-3 sec for the next code , and so on..

3.After all codes have been retrieved , then the 10 will reappear , telling you
the process has been completed. [ the codes come up in numerical sequence]

Question:How do you know when all codes have been retrieved ?

4.if you want to clear the codes , you hold the sw for 8 sec after each code appears.. that will cancel/clear THAT previous code .. to clear all codes , you have to do that after each code.

Question: What your saying is that after each code ( whethe it be 6 flashes or 26 flashes ) after it comes up then hold SW for 8 seconds.

5.Then turn key off 10 secs , on 30 sec and start car.. CE will then go out

As I said , when all codes have been retrieved , you will go back to the first code that came up [ in your case , #10] and the process will repeat..so, when you get a repeat code , you know you have already gotten that [ and ALL ] codes...
