Hey everyone...
I just got the Avantegarde Sports Grille for my 1991 190E. Its basically an insert that replaces the old grille. Anyways, my mechanic had a very hard time putting the grille into the chrome frame. After many tries, he finally got it in there. As for the little pull switch that is used to open the hood through the grille, my mechanic had to cut one of the inner strips so the switch could fit in. But now the problem is this...

The little switch pulley is sticking out too far that I can see it hanging out from the grille. And plus... when i try to pop open the hood by pulling the switch, the hood won't open! I mean I love the look of this grille... many people who saw it said it made the car look more agressive, but I can't live like this. PLEASE help me! HELP!

Mercedes has got different hooks for their hoods/grills.
The hook for the W201 is quiet wide; try to retrofit one of another MB model into your car (after you have had a look at the reason why the hood won't open).
Is the (little) spring of the opener hook attached properly? Does the grill insert leave you enough space to open the hook?

I have been looking for a replacement grille....where can I see a pic of the Avate and where can a guy purchase one?
WOuld you still recommend it?

I had overlooked the picture the first time, but now I do indeed see that the grille has several horizontal chrome strips unlike the two for the factory type grille. Thanks.
Do you have and contact info for the "Becker" company from which you think the grille may be purchased?
Also, how did you and Throttle get the photos in your signature block...I would like to do that also.

Bekkers is a great company for 190E parts and accessories.

I got my blinkers from them but, waiting for my birthday for the avantgarde grill. It does look cherry though!!!!
