Evaporator temp sensor and AC
I know this is early, but I want to take care of this prior to spring. It can get hot here in Texas during this time. It was in the 70's yesterday.
My 1986 420sel A/C is working intermittently. I started this project last year, but did not finish it. I replaced the accumulator. Vacuumed and charged it with R12. When I bypass the Klima relay with jumping pin 5 and 7 (I think?), the A/C blows cold. I check the low pressure switch with a multimeter, it is good(circuit is closed).
I think I narrowed it down to either the Klima relay or the evaporator temp sensor. I did try the cube method, still didn't work. So it mustn't be the Klima?
I have pulled the driver side center pad to expose the evaporator temp sensor/relay. I still cannot locate this. I see the expansion valve above the gas pedal. I see the black BEhr housing that the evaporator is in. There is a pink small cylinder(vacuum device?) near the expansion valve. Where is this sensor? I read it is 10 inches going back from the gas pedal. Can't find it. Does this model even have one?
Frustrated,
John
