Anyone put bearings in a 190E air pump?
The air pump on a friend's 92 190E 2.6 is really noisy. I suspect the front bearing is out. I checked in the fiche, and bearings are available for the V8s like the 4.2 and 5.6, but the 2.6 engine pump is not serviceable. Has anyone changed the bearing in one. I don't want to disable the car until I know. A rebuilt is quite expensive. I'm not charging him anything, because he is a friend, and I'm actually interested in if it can be done or not. Thanks

There was a recent post about M103 air pump bearings. Based on that information I successfully changed the bearing of my car's (1992 300TE) air pump. Not sure however whether your friends engine has the same air pump?

Bruno,
Thanks for the reply. His 92 190E has the 2.6 engine which is an M103. I'll check the fiche again to see if there is a different part # for the pumps. If it's the same, I'd appreciate bearing # and source, etc.

I posted hastilly before I read the thread. I checked my M103 fiche again yesterday, and the same pump is used on all M103 engines regardless o body type and includes both 3.0 and 2.6. The footnote on the fiche says starting with model year 1990. Prior years do not have a pump.
