I'm living in LA cali. I did test drive my car after c/o the oil to " Mobil 1 Extended performance 15w-50 " I can see the diff. To prof that in logically... I don't have equipment to do that but by driving my car everyday test drive after c/o oil and I KNOW / HEAR the engine noise and the way of acceleration of my car I can see/response of it. My car is 40000 (ML320 yrs 2002 and have MB dealer take care for me due to 40000 free maintenance) driving that car for 4 yrs everyday so this is not my imagenation. try out your self. it does not cost much and this oil is not out of the recomendatin from MB. It is just a NEW design from Mobil 1 with the new name " Mobil 1 Extended performance 15w-50"
use your comon sense, read more info from Engine, do some research how the oil or fiter work so you can gain more confident for yourself. After all, if you see it is reasonable , comon sense then you know what thing you should do for your BABY. I did for my car and I am VERY HAPPY with it. Usually, people don't want to try the new thing but this oit is not NEW...MB did recommend read your MB manual. will talk some more.

Lighter oil would increase engine power slightly. But you need an engine dyno to determine any gains. We are talking about maybe 1/2 a hp, but if you are racing that counts.

And by light I mean like a Royal Purple 5w20. Then you get into the wonderfull world of dry sump oiling systems.

With street cars this is pretty pointless though, the HP difference between say 0w40 and 15w50 would be small, I don't think even a G Tech Pro would be able to measure a 0-60 difference.
