engine mout replacement / engine reposition?

The shifter on my '87 560 sel has slid forward considerably.
There was just enough room to get it into park before running out of slot.

Soon the fan blade began nipping at its shroud. I purchased replacement engine mounts, read some post in this forum and replaced the two front mounts (definitely tried my patience!). They needed it, they were about an inch and a half shorter than the new ones.

The car is still up on the ramps and I have not yet started it. I see that the transmission still appears to be forward of where it shoud be. Is there an adjust ment for engine position?

I have the transmission mount and plan to install it next, will this correct the trans-forward situatioon?

Hoping someone can enlighten me,

Art

What makes the transmission appear out of place? Very unlikely - with the engine in the right place and the transmission firmly attached to it. I would go ahead and install the transmission mount, but it sounds more like a shifter bushing problem.

Thumbs up

If you needed motor mounts, chances are you need the trans mount at least too. 20 year old rubber is generally very hard, compressed, and basically useless.
