210 N22 version coding

The 210 N22 takes various parameters for the version code P2.

On my '96, the applicable values are apparantly:

+08 - Blower mode bar graph switched on by "AUTO"
+16 - Refridgerant fill level check switched off
+128 - "SMOG" display switched off

Mine was coded at 144 (16+128). I changed it to 8, to display the bar graph in auto mode, which didn't happen. I have no idea if the "SMOG" display works.

Is there something else that needs to be done to honor this code?

Try 136...USA cars don't have smog sensor so add the 128 + 8...

144, 8, 136 all seem the same. Of course, were there a smog sensor it wouldn't be going off and there should be enough refridgerant to let it start. But still no bar graph.

Perhaps I'm misreading the manual, or perhaps the N22 in my car doesn't take this code. Any idea?

I'd also like it to read in C, but that appears to be a no-go.
