Considering a 1993 300SEL: Comments please

I am considering this ‘93 140 and have read the various 140 threads. I am also familiar with the 104 engine (I am in the middle of a head gasket repair on my wife’s 94 TE), and I believe this year is before the harness issues.

The car has only 82,000 miles on it, with one older female owner. Most records are available. The problem according to the daughter is the transmission sticks in second. It will not go higher. They are asking $8,000, CDN, which seems like a 4,000 to 6,000 discount over similar no issue vehicles.

Any comments on the likelihood of fixing the tranny short of a full rebuild? Any other comments on its value?

Thanks,

John
