As an update to the previous post, I swapped out the mount yesterday. There is some very limited access from the rear of the transmission support plate but it would be extremely tough to remove the nut for the mount. Not to mention aligning the bottom spacer between the support and the mount. I decided to support the trans and remove the tranmission support plate. Much easier this way than struggling in such a confined space. The old mount was compressed quite a bit and after replacment the car drove without the vibration I was experienceing. I really don't know why the MB CD would tell you not to do it this way and I think most pro's would have done it the same way i did.
Although I find the CD to be an invaluable source of info, I have to question some of the procedures it gives. This is not the first time I've had to deviate from the manual and I think the CD sometimes mixes up the various chasis variations. Any opinions out there on this?
